Hi guys, I just got the Rail Simulator with the UP widecab on the cover. I installed it, and when I go to run it says system incompatible, need at least Windows 2000 to operate. Well, I have Windows XP with Service Pak 5 installed. I also use TRS2006 with no problem. I shut down Windows Firewall and my Anti Virus program before the install. What next?

I'm not positive on that note, but anyway, If it still does it even with the stuff turned off I'd try updating drivers and whatnot. that sometimes does it.

Blame Sean, its all his fault, take his karma down a couple points if you like.
Id recommend posting at UKtrainsim, it seems to be the best place to ask about RS as the devs frequently post there and theres alot larger RS community that side of the pond. I haven't played in a few months and never had the issue you are talking about so cant really help, sorry.
Hope you find your answer somewhere.

I uninstalled it and threw the damn thing in the garbage. I'm gonna be 58 on sunday, and I'm too old to piss with it.

Don't feel bad, I did the same thing to mine. It really isn't that good of a game. Trainz is much better in my opinion.
I have no explanation for what happened to you except for the fact that it is made by EA games.

It may be better then trainz at one point but not until the creators ether start making good US content or their EULA starts being more friendly to 3ed party content creators.
or if they just fix the AI traffic then they will have 1 step above trainz. But not a big step. It might be good to keep and let collect dust but ATM trainz is the way to go.

I just did a search and found the problem. Did they ever solve this?
9.12 "Rail Simulator requires Windows XP or later"
Currently Rail Simulator is not supported on 64bit versions of Windows XP and Windows
Vista. This situation is under investigation and we hope to provide direct support for this
operating systems in a future upgrade of Rail Simulator.

They have a fix. It is called give them more money by purchasing Railworks, which is pretty much the same game with some added content, and older content that you have to buy.
