Really awesome video by a friend of mine taken in Folkston, GA just a few days ago:

Note how the conductor calls the dispatcher right away, even before the train stops.  The radio chatter is interesting to listen to.  The train had every crossing in town blocked.

Neat. Something you rarely catch on camera.

Eric couldn't have planned it any better.... coming to rest right there in front of the platform.  When I first heard it I was assuming that it was an autorack that separated, as we have seen this a couple times coming off the Jessup side.  Maybe a low spot after the turnout perhaps, there is a dip there if you can see footage from up that way.

Yeah he is VERY lucky.  And I know about the dip you're talking about.  If you use a super-zoom lens and look at the train as it enters the dip, they bounce around like crazy.  The crew sure has to hold on to their seats!

My father is a local Norfolk Southern track crew, and all he said was just wow!  Smiley

And that is a rare catch of a train splitting in two sections.   Grin

Joe-

Folkston really is a beautiful place.  Very railfan friendly, too.  If you like that, then maybe some of my vids will wet your appetite for some eastern action:
