In the next few hours (if not already) TRS2006 and earlier users will not have access to the DLS and no more support. It'll be sad to see all the '06 content creators leave, as many have stated that they will no longer be releasing stuff once today comes. If I were you I would also start downloading anything you think you'll ever need from the 'older' stuff; even tho Auran has stated that they aren't deleting stuff reports are coming in of stuff being deleted off the DLS.

What the hell is wrong with them?  I mean yeah I'd be okay to see some UTC stuff get cleaned out because thats pretty obsolete at this point, but plenty of people use and rely on TRS2004 and TRS2006 items.  Also, did they ever consider that 04 and 06 users buy FCT's for the DLS? Wave those profits good bye...  Auran obviously doesn't see the boundary between progress and self-destruction.

Poor fools, Flippoff

Probably is hype. I just wonder, though. AURAN is a content hungry machine with a habit of using DLS content for releases. It would be curious to see what happens if content coming in slows down. I don't care what they do, haven't downloaded anything from there in a long time. If third party sites grow and catch on, along with some going payware, would they change some of that to get content back in their hands. They've grown to use to having free content to add to new versions, will they be able to wean themselves from it.

It'll be curious.

Well the Blue Comet Pack was an example of Auran producing its own content.  And it had mixed reception, some people liked it but the general consensus was that the work wasn't amazing and was not payware quality.

I think they're making a mistake by doing what they plan on doing, content creators are what keeps the game going not Auran. Blobbb

As of this moment all my content that I had uploaded to the DLS is still their and it's all build 2.4. (TRS 2004 SP4)  If they disappear off the DLS they will be updated if need be and uploaded to our download section.

Guys, I just got this e-mail from Zec Murphy:

Good Morning Randy
From September 1st, we have ended support for TRS2006 and older (TRS2006, TRS2004, UTC, Trainz 1.3) due to their age (5 years, and older), and as such we no longer provide technical support for these editions.

We will also not be providing support for these editions on the Download Station, with uploads no longer being accepted for them. Although you will have access to the Download Station (since you do have a supported edition of Trainz registered), we cannot provide support for the download tools in the unsupported editions.

By having an active First Class Ticket (or a supported edition of Trainz), you will still be able to access the Download Station. However, the methods required to access the DLS may change (for example, any updates made to the DLS will not be tested with the download tools in unsupported editions, and as such you may not be able to use these to download from the DLS). At this time, you would still have access to the FTP links on the DLS website (note, in future, this may also change, with other methods required to download).

We have not deleted any items from the DLS in relation to the end of support of older editions. Some items may have been removed either at the request of their authors, or if they are in breach of the Code of Conduct, or the Terms and Conditions for uploading.

Please see the following article on our wiki for further information on the Trainz Life Cycle Policy: http://online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/index.php5/Trainz_Life-Cycle_Policy

Thank you for your patience.

Zec Murphy

In my opinion, this is fraudulent on Auran's part, for not disclosing this information in the shopping cart section of their site where the First Class Tickets are offered. I asked for a refund.

I agree Justin.  N3V (I refuse to call them Auran anymore) can't get rid of the older content.  They wouldn't have anything left.   Smiley

Cheers,
Fred
