That was a very interesting video.  So the three UP units were manned?  I thought that manned helpers were just about gone these days on class 1 railroads with the widespread use of DPUs.  On a side that ex BN SD70MAC looked pretty clean.

You're mostly right. Manned helpers are rare, nowadays (except for the Horseshoe Curve).
Nice video too!

Yes, DPU's pretty much replaced Maned helpers. However, here on the Joint line, they're still used to push heavy coal or grain trains up the Palmer Divide (If only on occasion). Though the hill is only a 1.4% grade, it streches for 30+ miles back to Denver. So as you can see sometimes 12000-16000HP isnt enough :P

Learn something new everyday.  This video isn't mine but is from my neighborhood.  These gensets have just recently replaced a warbonnet GP60M and a pair of blue bonnet geeps.  Not cool...

This is a 3'6" gauge Heavy Hudson, and was the fastest steam engine in Japan.

Nice steam video.  It's funny how you can look at a diesel or electric loco from another country and think "Wow, that thing is ugly..." but you can look at almost any steam locomotive in the world and think, "Wow, she is a work of art..."
