HO Scale Headlights
« on: August 22, 2010, 05:57:50 PM »
Well I am having all sorts of issues with Athearn Genesis SD60 Series headlights on 2 of my favorite units, one has 2 burned out lights and its only 6 months old and the other has one that is flickering, I have checked the horrid black tab wiring system but everything is solid.  Im stumped, Any ideas?

The stock Athearn bulbs are known for not lasting long.

You can order bulbs made by Miniatronics (which are the same size/voltage as the Athearn bulbs),

I have used them to replace headlights/install ditchlights on several of my Athearn units.

well before you go and buy a new bulb for the flickering one i just want to ask. how dirty are the wheels on that locomotive cuss that could be it. also how clean is the track that your running it on. that can easily be the problem with the flickering light.

Only one of the 2 ditch lights and headlights flickers, I clean track and the engines as the first troubleshooting trick

could it be a decoder problem? If only 1 of 2 ditch lights flicker and the connections look solid and fine. I never heard of a LED flickering and it not being dirty wheels or track.
