Folkston Webcam - Open Viewing
« on: October 11, 2010, 07:38:05 PM »
As some of you may know we operate a live webcam on one of CSX's hottest train watching spots in the Southeast.  Located at the A602.3 sits our webcam on the rooftop of Whistlin Dixie located on Main St. in downtown Folkston, GA.  During peak levels Folkston can see as many as 80 movements per day.  Some of the more popular trains you may know of also run this route.  The Tropicana Juice train passes in the early evenings 5 days a week, as well as Amtrak's Autotrain.  For the past year we have had a $20 per year subscription charge which helped to offset the monthly costs associated with maintaining a reliable stream.  Earlier this year we upgraded to a full HD setup at tremendous cost.  This upgrade actually caused a downgrade in performance as we have the highest available internet connection that is available to us, and it's nowhere near enough bandwidth to display the cam properly.  What we are doing now is running it free to the public to allow more people to see the potential this cam has to offer.  With a sponsor or advertiser who can cover the $300 monthly cost it would take to provide a connection that will display the cam as it was intended.  It has the capability to broadcast in FULL HD with audio.  The state we are in now, the camera is only broadcasting at a fraction of the quality it was intended to do.  If you know anyone or you are a potential advertiser or sponsor yourself, please don't hesitate to contact us right away.  Please enjoy the live feed, and please consider donating to offset the monthly costs.

Many thanks!
