The Sunbury Southern CP interchange job rumbles through residential Sunbury on the Awl St. spur with 1414 leading two leased CP RS18's.

Thanks everyone!
Sunbury Southern has picked a few beater GP35's off the NS deadline, they be repainted as time allows.
Here we found two at the Sunbury yard ready to take a train of frozen McStuff to the McCentral interchange in McWherever.

Love it Nikos, can't wait to see those bad boys repainted. Here's a teaser of the new revamp of Aberdeen Yard, I like it much better like this.. much muuuch more enjoyable to switch in.

Picture taken by the engineer of today's power for the train to McWherever to play with some McNuggets, 550 & 552.  553 is down for a 92 day and will likely emerge with the white stripe if time allows, and another GP38-2 has been renumbered (#569) and repainted.  This leaves HLCX 343 to receive paint.

Man, y'all must have a lot of money for paint lying around! We can see whose railroad doesn't care about its corporate appearance lol.

Just kidding-

;D The 550 actually ran around in primer for quite a few months, painting definitely did take awhile with most of the power just patched out for the most part.  Most of the fleet is done now, just needing to do a complete job on the last former HLCX geep and the little white stripe which is fairly inexpensive all in all.

But yes the BASR does like to have a good corporate imagine  :moon:

I am indeed a big fan of the blue and how the tigers worked out; but nonetheless here's some new goodies for the yard coming by way of the Sunburry Southern, the impending breakup of Conrail has smaller and older deadline power being sold off and the BASR just picked up a pair of former PC SW1500s from the Altoona deadline.  This Saturday morning the roustabout ran out to Shamokin to grab them from the SBSR interchange with the 550 and C-64.

With increased traffic from the Sunburry Southern, as well as more traffic going to the C&P, these two units will help free up an MP15AC for road trains.
The yardmaster was out snapping a few shots of the power coming in, and here they are..

Cruising into Aberdeen, just past the yard and now approaching the shop, where they will run past on the switching lead and shove the hack and both units into the shop track where they will be looked at on Monday.

Approaching the switch past the shop.

Just clear of the lead switch and ready to shove in.

Temporarily coupled up to the biz cars and cut of MOW equipment on the shop track.

Aaaand tied down done for the day.

with 91 and 92 OOS from severe mechanical failures the McCentral picked up a pair of B23s to replace them for heavy cement service.  Of course they've already been painted in the new image...  Here 6388 leads a cut of hoppers eastbound with 6405 on the rear as there's no run-around at the industry. Bummer that the road's on the other side of the river.

Engine 1322 pulls a coal train up the grade towards Montrose. Later on in the week we see the same engine pulling a short local towards the same town. Mayburry Northern 1322 is one of five SD40-2s that were purchased by the Mayburry Northern for use in snow fighting service in the Boston area. It has since been downrated and exiled to the remote Montrose Division, an isolated section of line acquired when Conrail formed.

Paint doesn't pull trains......
Eastbound manifest to Shamokin has just conquered the stiff grade and is now coasting along the ridgeline. SBSR has leased two more CP RS18's while new power is acquired.

The manifest and two CP RS18's were left in Shamokin for the local, the two GP35's joined the other half of the SBSR power to haul 60 empties from PPG back to the mines near Sunbury.

Pretty cool guys with a K5 on their ride.

Monday's RS7 rolls through the sleepy town of Greensburg, just east of the interchange in Shamokin with the SBSR, slowing to switch the Maytag Distribution center in town.  Unfortunately for the locals, the gauge was realigned out of the middle of the street to cross over driveways on side, thus blocking driveways for the 10 minutes or so while the crew switches Maytag.  Knowing this, Grandpa Hayward in his wagon hears the bell from the sole MP15AC and floors it to beat the train across -
