Western Division
« on: September 08, 2007, 08:56:16 PM »
This route is the main reason I learned gmax. I needed some special items that no one has made, (not that I've gotten around to finishing most of what I need yet) but I have made some progress on the route. The stretch of trackage I'm reproducing is from Stockton, south to Tracy, West through Altamont Pass, Livermore, Pleasanton, Sunol, through Niles Canyon into Fremont, then north to Oakland California. The main track I want is the Western Pacific tracks but seen as the SP tracks parallel and\or cross the WP track all the way, to make it look right, I'm making both sets of track.  Also in Stockton the WP and SP yards are just south of the ATSF yard so that's being put in too. All I originally wanted to do was make some buildings and bridges. I started this route a little over 1 year ago and at this time I've only finished one building for this route. The Sunol Station. It's on the DLS. (I just haven't had much time to work on this project)

So fare I have the ground files made fore the stretch from Stockton to Moss Landing about 8 miles, then from Pleasanton to the Niles District in Fremont. (around 6 miles) Most all the track is in place. I just need to put in most of the crossings, roads and other scenery items and then make the rest of the ground files. ;)

Here is some of the tracks in Stockton.

I doubt that I will ever release this route because my route building abilitys are not that good but you never know. But all the items I make for this route will be released either on Aurans DLS or on the USLW site. But i do want to share my progress with anyone thats interested. :)

Thanks Nikos. I'm not that good at route building but I can struggle through it. I hvae posted some pics that I'm sure you've seen but didn't realize I made. I posted some here.

After going over and having a good look at that trestle and old draw bridge I decided to build my own. The trestle is coming along fine. ;)

All I need is the railing and attachment points for the invisable track then I can work on the abutments.

A small brake from content creation put me on my Western Division again. Except I'm messing around about 30 mile west from Moss Landing in Niles Canyon.

We find a west bound WP #3103 pulling a manifest at mile post 33 approaching tunnel #1.

Thanks Fred. This is a slow WIP. Usually doesn't get worked on until I'm burned out on content creating and I need a brake. So that means I'll be working on this route for the next couple weeks. ;D

That might be a bit much. After all I don't think I'm that good. Josh is way better than I can be but I try as hard as I can. I think my work is substandard compared to most of the really good route builders. Then again almost anything is better than the built in routes. :P

It's been a while since I did anything on my route so I decided to do a little work on it again. Spent about half the day on this stretch. These pics are of the south end of Hearst siding just north of Sunol.  ;)

Still have a lot to learn about route building. ;D

I agree with Diet.  That does have a "man I want to run a 120 car freight in cab mode over that" kind of feel to it!  :D

Looks hot,

Steve
